Why should you come to this class?

If you are just a little terrified of getting this type of cake order, then look no further! With our expert tuitiuon and the detailed PDF guide book that accompanies this class, you will be confident in making cakes with beautiful fabric decorations of any shape and size at home. There are so many skills to be gained from this class, it's not to be missed!

What will you take home from this class?

You will take home your completed corset cake.

We will provide you with a box to take your cake home in, and teach you how to box it safely using regular cake boxes.

Each student will also be given our very detailed PDF (emailed to you after the class) that we wrote to accompany this class. This gives full instructions, tips and lots of useful photos to help remind you of what you learned during your class.

What will you need to bring to this class?

You will need to bring 2 layers of 6" and 2 layers of 8" round cake (4 cakes in total). We provide a recipe that you can use which you can download here.

We ask you to bake the cakes as Lou spends a portion of the first morning talking to each of you about your cake, how you can improve your baking, and also how to fix any mistakes. If we provided you with perfect cakes then we feel we would have a missed teaching opportunity!

We also reccomend for this class that you bring chocolate cakes. You will be using a really yummy chocolate filling, plus we have found that chocolcate cake remains moist for longer (as this class is over 3 days!), and is often a better consistency for carving.

We will supply the equipment needed to create the support for the cake, including the nuts, bolts and extra boards, plus the buttercream, sugarpaste, flowerpaste and modelling pastes. We will also provide the boxes for you to take your cake home in!

Please also bring an apron and a packed lunch with you. The Cake Makery will provide tea, coffee and cold refreshments as needed!

Class level:

This class is for students who are looking to learn about cake structure and develop beautiful decorative techniques, while learning the art of cake carving too! You will be able to transfer a lot of these skills to other cakes you are working on at home. Stencilling, lace, carving, frilling, covering awkard shapes, dowelling and creating realistic ribbon and fabric techniques are just a few skills you can look forward to gaining on this class!

Class times:

This is a three day class that runs from 10am - 4pm on all three days. It is a maximum of 4 students only per class, this allows us to give you more personalised teaching and attention.
